How do I know if my alloy is buckled?

Range Rover

It can be challenging to tell if your alloy wheel is buckled just by looking at it. That's why paying attention to any changes in how your vehicle handles or feels is essential. Suppose you notice any vibrations, wobbling, pulling to one side or difficulty steering while driving. Your alloy wheel may be buckled or dented. Additionally, your alloy is likely buckled if you see any physical damage, such as cracks, bends or dents on the wheel. If you suspect that your alloy wheel is buckled, it's important to have Rolling Rims inspected the alloy to determine if buckled alloy wheel repair is needed.

Why has my alloy buckled?

Alloy wheels can become buckled or dented due to a variety of reasons. The most common cause of damage to alloy wheels is hitting a pothole or curb. This can cause the wheel to buckle or dent, leading to further damage and compromising the seal between the tire and the alloy. Another factor contributing to damage is driving over a speed bump too quickly. The impact can cause the wheel to deform or even crack in extreme cases. Colliding with an object on the road is yet another cause of damage to alloy wheels. Even a minor collision can cause significant damage, leading to issues with steering and handling.

Should I get the buckle fixed?

Our Straightening Process

At Rolling Rims, we understand the importance of alloy wheels for any vehicle. That's why we provide a variety of services to keep your wheels in top condition. From basic repairs to custom split rim rebuilds, our team has the expertise to give you the perfect finish.

Step 1 - Remove

If you've bought your vehicle to us, we’ll jack your vehicle up, place it on axle stands and remove your wheels. Once your wheels are inside the workshop, we'll remove your tyres and valves, getting them ready for straightening.

Step 2 - Straighten

Now that your alloys have had their tyres and valves removed, they are set up on our state-of-the-art alloy wheel straightener. The alloy wheel is heated and straightened to within 1-2mm of the manufacturer's tolerances. If the alloy is cracked, we can also carry out an alloy wheel repair.

Step 3 - Refurbishment (Optional)

Whether you want a diamond cut or powder coated finish, this is the stage we complete the additional service.

Step 4 - Assemble

That's it! Your alloys are looking new and are ready to be built up. We'll put new valves in and your tyres back on. If your tyres are low on tread, we stock a wide variety of tyres. This is a great time to consider fitting new tyres if needed. We then balance the wheels and ensure they are within spec and ready to go back on your vehicle. *Note* - *TPMS stems will be reused if suitable. We will not refit tyres with excessive damage.*
